Whether you’re browsing, joining our email list, or placing an order, here’s how The Fiction Hours handles your information.
This policy applies when you visit thefictionhours.com, place an order, join our email list, or contact us.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use our website, we collect:
Contact details: Your name, email address, billing and shipping addresses, and phone number if provided.
Order details: The products and options you choose, order history, payment status, and shipping information.
Messages you send: Questions, feedback, and any photos or details you provide about an order issue.
Newsletter information: Your email address, signup preferences, and unsubscribe requests.
Website activity: Information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring pages, and interactions with our site.
Some information comes directly from you; other information is collected automatically through Squarespace and website features.
How we use your information
We use this information to:
Process payments and arrange production and delivery.
Send order confirmations, tracking details, and other order updates.
Answer questions and handle cancellations, replacements, or refunds.
Send collection news and marketing emails when you choose to receive them.
Understand website activity and improve the browsing and shopping experience.
Help prevent fraud, keep records, and meet legal obligations.
The services that help us run the shop
Some information is shared with the companies that help operate The Fiction Hours:
Squarespace: Hosts our website and provides store, checkout, customer record, and analytics features.
Printify, its production partners, and delivery carriers: Receive the order and contact details needed to make and ship your items and resolve fulfillment issues.
Payment providers: Process the payment method you choose at checkout and provide transaction information needed to manage your order.
Email and communication providers: Help manage newsletter subscriptions, deliver emails, and respond to customer messages.
Payment information is handled through our checkout’s payment services. Please do not send payment card details by email.
Checkout may use Google Places to suggest addresses. When that feature is used, information typed into address fields may be shared with Google to generate suggestions.
We may also disclose information when needed to comply with the law, respond to valid legal requests, protect rights or safety, or address fraud.
Service providers may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate. Their own privacy policies explain their practices, including Squarespace’s Privacy Policy and Printify’s Privacy Policy.
Cookies and website analytics
Cookies are small files stored on your device. Some help essential features work, such as your shopping cart and checkout. Others, when enabled, help us understand website traffic and activity.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings and any cookie controls available on our website. Blocking necessary cookies may affect how the shop works.
Squarespace states that its services do not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals. This is different from other privacy controls or opt-out rights that may apply under the law.
Your inbox, your choice
Joining our email list is optional. If you subscribe, we use your email address to send collection updates, shop news, and occasional offers.
Marketing emails may track opens and clicks through small tracking images and links, helping us understand which messages readers find useful.
You can unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of a marketing email or contact [customer service email] for help. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop necessary messages about an order you’ve placed.
How long we keep information
We keep information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here:
Order and support records are retained as needed for fulfillment, customer service, accounting, taxes, and legal obligations.
Newsletter information is used while you remain subscribed. We may retain a limited record of your unsubscribe request to honor your preferences.
Website activity data is retained according to the relevant platform settings and service providers’ retention practices.
Information may need to be retained longer to resolve a dispute or meet a legal requirement.
Your privacy choices and requests
You can ask us to correct your information or help with newsletter preferences.
Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may also have rights to access, obtain a copy of, or delete personal information, or opt out of certain uses, sales, or sharing.
Email hello@thefictionhours.com to make a request. We may need to verify your identity before responding. Some information may be exempt from deletion, such as records we must keep for legal or accounting purposes.
Where applicable, you can appeal a denied request by emailing us with the subject “Privacy Request Appeal.” We respect applicable privacy rights and required opt-out signals, and will not discriminate against you for exercising those rights.
Keeping information safe
We use reasonable safeguards and limit access to personal information to what is needed to run the shop. No online system can guarantee absolute security.
Children’s privacy
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact hello@thefictionhours.com so we can address it.
Links and policy updates
If you follow a link to another website, that website’s own privacy policy applies.
We may update this policy as our shop or practices change. The latest version will appear here with an updated date. We will provide additional notice or obtain consent when required by law.
